City Manager's Weekly Update

Week Ending March 29, 2019

Town Center

Council Town Center Subcommittee Formed

At a Special Council Meeting on Friday, March 29, 2019, the City Council adopted a resolution forming a temporary, project specific Council Subcommittee to provide guidance as the City begins its discussions with the Town Center developers about assumptions related to project economics and purchase terms for City property. Recommendations regarding purchase terms will be brought forward for Council consideration at a future public meeting.

It is important to note that purchase of the Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley properties is contingent upon the approval or entitlement of the project. The entitlement of a project is a separate process and begins with the submittal of a project application, which is subject to environmental and legal review and consideration by the Planning Commission and City Council.  The developers have not yet submitted an application to the City.
